Reddy

A donation was made in memory of Reddy by the doctors and staff at Northwest Equine Veterinary Associates on Jul 10, 2020.

When I adopted him in October of 2007 from a Yakima, WA feedlot recsue group, I had no idea that Reddy was going to be a once in a lifetime horse especially since he was the first horse I'd ever owned.

But he was. He really was.

We had a wonderful 12 years and 10 months together as best friends forever.

If love could have saved him, he would have lived forever.

A special thanks to Dr. Ragel and his team at the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine for successfully extracting a 2 and 3/4 inch wire from Reddy's side in February of 2010. His symptoms began around Christmas of 2009 and the local vet worked with us through 6 weeks of various antibiotic treatments and finally decided there was a foreign object somewhere and referred us to WSU, specifically Dr. Ragel. After using MRI technology to track the object, using only a bit of tranquilizer and a local anestetic (he did not have to go down under a general anesthetic), the good doctors were able to perform a minimally instrusive surgery and the wire popped out within minutes. They gave me the wire as a keepsake and I still have it. By June, Reddy was back in all of his beautiful glory and lived a full and happy life, and made my life happy too.
