My precious Gordon Setter, Bodi was amazing. He was sweet, independent, beautiful, aloof, and smart. He was a” hunter” to the core. From the moment his 4 paws stepped foot on this planet, he needed to hunt. We’d go out to distant lands so he could hunt his heart out. I’m vegetarian, so would never shoot anything, but Bodi didn’t know that. He wanted to look for squirrels, rabbits, birds, mice, and a very large elk…That’s another story. A time when Benny, his brother, a friend and I were hiking in the Cascades, Bodi disappeared for an hour. All on his own, hunting in the woods. His GPS collar stopped working so I couldn’t locate him. I was PANICKED! It was hot, we were running out of water, Benny was hungry and we were all tired…Meanwhile, Bodi was living his best life. I ran into a couple on my search for Bodi and asked if they’d seen a black and tan dog with a bell running around? They said, “YES! He’s up the trail having a BLAST!!!!” Finding him was one of the happiest moments of my life. Bodi was expensive: He had at least one issue with every bodily system...maybe two, or three. He was worth every penny, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. He met his brother in Heaven 6 weeks after Benny passed, which makes me smile knowing they’re together. I have solace in knowing I will see them again one day. In the meantime, Bodi is hunting in Heaven and Benny is keeping him safe, just as he did here on Earth. ❤
