Sabre

A donation was made in memory of Sabre by Drs. Burhenn and King at Feline Medical Clinic on Jan 15, 2021.

My condo was about 15 feet from Sitka Sound in Alaska. The sliding glass patio door opened to not only a magnificent view, but also to a very close view of the breakwater where mature bald eagles rested between their flights to forage. One day, Sabre (cat) saw an eagle and immediately went into his stalking pose, slithering across the floor to the slider and opening his mouth in a silent hiss. I quietly opened the door and he continued the crouch onto the patio. Then the eagle abruptly swung his massive head around and fixed his eyes on Sabre. Without changing his stride or his pace, Sabre reversed his progress and slithered back -- not forward -- into the house. It was as if his mind told him..."oh, I get it, I'm the prey now, not the eagle." As the vet told me, he was a proud cat...and I miss him after our 18 years together.
