A donation was made in memory of Roxy by
the doctors and staff at North End Pet Hospital on
Dec 22, 2023.
Roxy was born in Tijuana, Mexico, around June, 2020. Her mama had been abandoned, chained to a pipe. Somehow, Roxy, her littermates and her mama all survived to be rescued by CasaDog Rescue in Puyallup, WA. We adopted her when she was 10 weeks old.
She was a funny little thing and we fell in love immediately. She loved our other dogs, ran like the wind, would find the tiniest things to play with - a tiny rock, a tag off of one of her toys, anything small. We wondered if it was because she only had tiny rocks and other small items to play with in Tijuana. She was a love, but her love only included us. She was terribly frightened of anyone else. We worked with many professionals to try and help her get past this, but we weren’t successful. When our family or friends were over, she was content to be in our bedroom, where she felt safe.
As she approached her 2nd birthday, she suddenly became aggressive towards our 12-year-old Yorkie. In working that up with her veterinarian, we found out there was a problem with her kidneys. She was diagnosed with renal dysplasia and her ultrasound indicated she was functioning on only 20% of her kidneys. The consensus was that it was either a congenital defect or that she had gotten into some sort of toxin/poison in Mexico.
She was given 3-6 months to live but she made it 13 months. Except for her last week, you would have never known she was ill. She never lost her spunk, never lost weight, always looked and acted totally healthy.
She had many nicknames - Roxinator, Roxanne, Golden Beast, Tijuana Terrorist, Golden Tater Tot, Potato. It was heartbreaking to let her go on 11/26/23, but we had promised her we would do everything we could for her until it was obvious her quality was slipping away, so we made the painful decision to free her from her little, earthly body.
Run free, out beautiful golden girl. We'll love and miss you forever.♥️🐾
