Barnum was our sweet boxer boy whom I met on the day he was born. I bonded with him like no other pet I’ve ever had, and he will stay in my heart always. When my sister and two young sons moved in with us, Barnum took to my autistic nephew right away, and never left his side. Barnum knew somehow that he needed his care, and that sweet dog showed him the gentle attention he needed. We said goodbye to Barnum this past month when he wasn’t feeling well and bloodwork showed he had cancer in the bone marrow. He never suffered a day, and as I sat with him in his last breaths I knew that he understood I was doing what was best for him. I will miss my sweet Barnum boy forever. He stole my heart.
