Cupid

A donation was made in memory of Cupid by Mary Doyle on Jun 07, 2010.

Cupid was such a special girl. She spent her first 5 years of life as a research animal, living in a kennel with other dogs. When she injured her knee, she could no longer participate in the study and was adopted out. We were fortunate to get her. It was not an easy transition to become a real dog after all that time in the kennel. At first she was timid and every new noise or sight was frightening to her. Little by little she adjusted and within a few months she was a different dog. Her tail was no longer tucked and she held it and her head high. She loved everyone. One day she heard a stranger come to the door and she actually barked for the first time since being here. It was the loudest bark, actually a bay since she was a hound, that I have ever heard. It's one of the many things we will treasure with her memory. Cupid was also a beauty queen. She loved to lay in the sun until she was panting. Hated going in the water (for fear it might mess up her hair) and thought our yellow lab was crazy for going swimming.

Everyone will miss Cupid very much.

Hugh and Toni

Comments: Oh Cupid, we miss you so. Cupid was so patient with our curious and energetic puppy Otis from the day she met him. Sweet Happy was great at tolerating him but Cupid made more effort to play with him. After a few visits she would see Otis coming and flop her chest down on the ground with her tail sticking up high and her front paws spread out, embracing playtime. The transformation she made from the day she came home was incredible. Every time we saw her she was a little more playful and a little more outgoing. Toni and Hugh gave Cupid the best life a dog could ask for and she is lucky to have had at least a few years with such a loving family. She will be missed! Love, Mary, Duncan, and Otis

Comments: Many dogs are special, but Cupid was a VERY special friend to us. She looked forward to seeing our two boys (Ringo and Duke) every time she walked by our house, and they looked forward to seeing her. We will all miss her sweet face and her "boing boing" personality. But she was loved and cared for, and appreciated everything that Toni and Hugh and Happy did for her. We all loved her.
