My wife adopted Zoe into her forever home as a Valentine's gift to me 8 months before we were married in 2001. She was about 1 year old at the time. We always referred to her as "our sweet kitten" due to her small size and seemingly endless amounts of energy which she displayed up until a few days before she passed. Even at 20 years old, Zoe continued to fool everyone about her age (including emergency vet techs). Through her life with us, Zoe lived through 4 moves (including one cross-country), 9/11, our marriage, my graduate school program, the birth of our child (now 8), and countless other lifetime milestones. Although we are happy that she lived a very long, healthy, happy life with us, she has left a very large hole in our lives. I for one will always miss her sleeping, tucked next to me every night.
