Matty
A donation was made in memory of Matty by Laura Hoyt on Mar 22, 2011.
My name is Vicki and this is my story about my baby boy Matties! I got Mattie from a breeder in Wenatchee, Washington in May of 2006. I picked him out of a litter of 10 kittens at the age of two weeks, his eyes were just opening and the blue points just coming out and a purr that already warmed my heart...and yes at two weeks old. On the 9th week with so much excitement, I picked him up from the breeder and in front of me was the tiniest of the litter and as cute as can be; my baby Mattie. With eyes of sky blue and fur as soft as a baby's skin; he had me wrapped around him at first sight.
I do believe Matt had his bladder disease from birth, but it didn't show up until he was about 1 1/2 years old. Mattie and I were in and out of the Doctors and he took many kinds of medication. He took it like a champ and I always was the one to give him his medication, and when someone else would try the cat fur would fly...he was such a good boy for me!
After the years of pain and sickness, I took Matt to a specialist on feline diseases. After trying for a month of everything on earth possible to make him better I threw up my arms! After his test, the Dr. was very quiet as she entered the room. I could see in her face and movement, an answer without asking. After a long talk and many questions about Matt's years of medical problems I began to puddle up with tears. I finally asked her with my heart aching, I said to her,” If Matt was yours, what would you do…?” She bowed her head and said to me” He has had enough pain for any kitty, and for any length of time to have endured.” And she said in my opinion,” I Believe it is time for him to rest.” I fell apart for many minutes and she left me to myself to make a decision which no one should ever have to make.
I know I loved him so much and with my selfishness of wanting him longer, I know it was time to let him go. I finally came out of the room and told her to do it, and it was fast and painless. After a short time she brought out a box with Mattie's body and I lost it once again. This was the hardest thing any owner must do, and that is pull the plug on your baby! So to all of you that have to make this horrific decision my heart go's to you. I loved this Cat as my baby boy and he will be missed forever...Thank you to all you wonderful Veterinarians for your understanding and love for animals such as our Mattie's...
