Charlie
A donation was made in memory of Charlie by Drs. Stidham, Meyer, Goebel, Bouchey, Lommers and Grant at Vista Veterinary Hospital on May 19, 2026.
Charlie Ross "rescued" my husband and I on June 23, 2014 from a wonderful no kill shelter called Homeward Pet Adoption Center in Woodinville Wa. I had been perusing all adoption sites in the area we lived in to find a member to add to our family. Charlie's little face popped up on their web site and I called my newly retired husband right away from my office and said you need to get to Woodinville right away before "Charlie" is adopted by anyone else!! He was in downtown Seattle at a doctor appointment and said he'd "do what he could". After a very long wait, missed and unreturned phone calls a photo was texted to me and it was our Charlie in the front seat of our car!
From that day on our sweet Charlie boy gave us 12 years of unconditional love, excelled at being our best friend and made us laugh more than we can remember. He had a terrible time with ear infections and had multiple surgeries for his little ears, he did not like his ear drops but knew he'd get a treat (or 2) afterwards and made friends with all who met him. He was a lefty and that little paw would gently remind us if we weren't paying attention to him or sharing whatever we may have been eating - within reason of course! He was the snackiest little man ever! Charlie was a true Cocker Spaniel and was glued to our sides and loved his car rides, his beautiful green, grassy yard and his numerous tennis balls that we are still finding in the yard. He developed cancer and had multiple growths removed from his jaw, his belly and the nape of his neck and the surgeries were becoming difficult for him. We gave Charlie the best we had to offer and he began to tell us his time with us was drawing to a close. We consulted with our dear veterinarian Dr. Grant to see if our time with our dear Charlie was coming to a close. If it was possible - we spoiled this sweet boy more than usual for 3 full days before we held him close as he crossed over his Rainbow Bridge with Dr. Grant's help. This sweet boy helped me through the loss of my mom, my dear son and my father this last January - always by my side knowing just how to make me feel better. As I write this it has been 1 month exactly that we sent you off and our hearts still break, our home is so very quiet and there is no more shadow when Charlie's dad mows his lawn or when I am in the kitchen cooking as he was the best little supervisor...and for 12 years - our floors were so very clean thanks to our Charlie AKA "Hoover"...we miss you sweet boy so very much and wish you the very best pain-free life with an endless supply of snacks and tennis balls...
