Sad day at the Double Ought. Our long time companion and Head of Ranch Security was diagnosed with cancer... Sarah came to us from the WSU Junior surgery course. She was very timid and scared. It took Eric almost 6 months before she trusted him. Upon winning her trust, she stepped up to be the Head of Ranch Security for the Double Ought. For the last 14yrs Sarah has helped us raise our boy and watch our business form and grow. She has supervised every fence post dug, bale stacked, equipment repair, garden planted, nail driven, farrier appointment, lesson given and managed every animal that has set foot on this place. She has been there when I've hit the dirt and rode off with me when I got back on. You don't realize how much time you've spent with them until it's over. In the end, we were blessed to have a few good days with her. We took the opportunity to spoil her rotten. We even shared her last ride with her boy, Ethan, who drove across the state, just to say good bye. We bid our farewells in the comfort of our home with her in her bed. She has left such a large whole in our lives. I never knew how much presence she had. I like to imagine that she will go to be with my mom. She can help her round up all of those ponies that have gone before her and continue to watch over the ranch. Farewell my dear friend. Cowgirls really do cry.
