My daughter, Melissa, rescued Lucy in Chattanooga, Tennessee in October, 2007. They had many adventures together. When Melissa was diagnosed with brain cancer in the fall of 2010, she returned to Seattle for treatment at U.W. Hospital. Lucy, of course, came with her. After Melissa passed in April, 2013, Lucy helped me get through my grief. We took long runs together and went on countless hikes in the Cascade Mountains. I was blessed that Lucy was able to spend the last half of her life with me. I'll carry her in my heart for the rest of my days.
